Pamela S. Coleman, P.E., LEED AP

Pam is the owner of Coleman Consulting. Originally from Kansas, she came to Baltimore in 1990 to attend Johns Hopkins University. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in May of 1994 and completed the Honors Combined Bachelor’s/Master’s Program to receive her Master of Civil Engineering degree from JHU one year later.

During school and through the spring of 1996 Pam interned at Forensic Technologies International, Inc. in Annapolis. There she researched and analyzed failure modes of structures and developed possible failure scenarios. Her time at FTI gave her perspective that was valuable when she moved to LPJ Inc., a small structural design firm in Baltimore. There she worked as a Project Engineer for two and a half years and was involved in a number of low-rise building projects including hospital additions, senior housing facilities, and churches.

In 1999 Pam moved to Century Engineering where she worked in the dual capacity of Project Manager and Project Engineer. Her responsibilities included investigation and evaluation of existing structures, design of both new construction and renovations to existing structures, and construction phase services. Her client base includes architects, developers, and owners which provided the opportunity to work on commercial, institutional and private buildings as well as marine facilities. Pam earned her Professional Engineering license in 2000 and her LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) professional certification in 2003.

After many years at Century Pam co-founded Coleman Consulting with her husband, Chris. They took the opportunity to fill a niche in the Baltimore area to create a woman-owned Building Envelope consulting engineering firm and hope for many successful years in the industry.

Christopher R. Coleman, P.E., LEED AP

Chris is the Chief Engineer of Coleman Consulting. He attended Johns Hopkins University from 1989 through 1993 when he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural Concentration.

His first engineering job was at Skarda and Associates, a small consulting firm, where he worked on the structural design of low-rise buildings in the Mid-Atlantic region. The small nature of the firm allowed him to learn all aspects of consulting engineering, from writing proposals through construction phase services.

In 1997 he moved to Gale Associates, Inc. where he continued to do structural work while developing expertise in the specialty of building envelope engineering. Chris divided his time between the office and jobsites, honing his forensic, investigative, and management skills. His work took him across the United States and, with the addition of a security clearance, to far flung countries such as Sri Lanka and Pakistan doing work on US Embassies. He remained with Gale for 12 years.

In 2008 Chris co-founded Coleman Consulting, drawing on years of contacts in the architectural, engineering and construction industries around the mid-Atlantic region and beyond to establish a new benchmark in the Building Envelope specialty. His goal is to deliver a high standard of technical knowledge with a decidedly personal touch.
